DEC's commercial PDP-10 software on this site is available for download under
the terms of DEC's PDP-10
Software Personal License.
These files are in John Wilson's tape image format. The "tapecopy" program
(in the utility section below) can be used to copy tapes to tape image files,
and vice versa.
The tape image files have been compressed with
Why bzip2? Because it results in much better compression than the
more common gzip (or zip). For instance, for the total collection of tape
images on this page, bzip2 compressed images are 21% smaller than gzip
Since bzip2 is open-source software, there
are already executables for many platforms, and if you can't find one
for yours, you can always compile it yourself.
